Bean Breeding and Agronomy

The beans4feeds project will explore faba bean genetic resources to adapt faba bean varieties to new prospective markets. The approach includes breeding new spring and winter bean varieties that possess agronomically desirable attributes such as amino acid complement (in whole beans and processed feeds), high protein yielding, low levels of anti-nutrition factors and biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) efficiency. Potential new varieties will be assessed for their performance in the air classification process and fish rearing.
